Did I getcha? I’m practicing my scares for this Halloween! Greetings and welcome to another cTF2w blog post, written by yours spookily, Loreknight! It’s time to talk about how things have been going behind the scenes since our last post, and what we can look forward to.
Over the past few months we’ve worked on getting updates back up and going again, and more importantly, trying to streamline the process of getting them out. We’ve been focusing heavily on improving existing content recently, such as rebalances, bug fixes, and quality of life, and we hope to see it show in this latest update. Ironically, transitioning between the old pipeline and our new one has slowed down our upcoming update, but it should get faster moving forward!
Speaking of our latest update…we’re releasing it now! Surprise! Maybe! It’s not as big as we originally planned because we got rather ambitious, but everything else we were originally going to do will be packed into another similar update later this month, including a bone-rattling rework to one of our weapons and some incredible new Halloween maps of our choosing that Valve neglected to add! In the spirit of giving everyone enough time to enjoy them, our Halloween rotation will most likely last until mid-November this year.
Additionally, some of you already know that our wiki page has been down for some time now. This is because upon re-evaluation, the wiki staff found it among some pages that did not fit their current definition of what belongs on the wiki. Luckily, we had already been planning a transition away from relying on the wiki and will soon showcase our changes and additions on this very website, which we’re still working on. It’s gonna take some more time, but personally I gotta tell you, it’s looking real nice!

cTF2w is back, babies!
Heya everyone, Loreknight from the cTF2w team here.
As most of you already know, the servers have been down for quite a while now, and we’d like to apologize for that. Furthermore, I’d like to apologize personally for our lack of communication and transparency throughout this time, and to straighten out what happened for everyone.
Originally, the servers went down as a result of an update Valve released in late 2022. It is normal for updates to TF2 to have this effect, but the nature of the update led our developers to be worried about how deeply affected our core plugin was, meaning it took much longer than expected to fix the issue. At the same time, we were also correcting an issue between us and the server providers. Eventually, a developer isolated the issue the update had caused, and we got to work rectifying it, as it luckily turned out to be less extensive than originally thought. Afterwards, it has taken us some time to make absolutely sure that everything in the server still works as expected and to fix most of what didn’t. What you will see in the patch notes today is mostly the few things that would take too long to fix, and we will continue to work on them in the future, as we want to get our server back up as soon as possible.
We know it shouldn’t have taken us this long to do all this, but circumstances in many of the staff’s personal lives made it incredibly difficult to resolve everything as fast as we wanted to and to communicate effectively with you all.
I want to personally assure you all that while the server was out for a long time, it’s not down for the count. We’re back, we’re still here, and we’re going to start updating again. Additionally, please make sure to report any bugs or other issues you come across in-game in our discord server so we can resolve them as soon as possible.

Spookytober has arrived!
The fall time is here! That means it’s time for everyones favorite unbalanced crit-infested scary maps! Remember to wear your favorite horrifying hat and bring a bag for bloodstained candy!
For the entirety of October we will be running Halloween-themed vanilla AND custom maps!
I apologize for the single day delay for the start of Spookytober! Unfortunately due to recent hurricane events, the Project Lead (Sophie(me)) hasn’t had stable internet! To be honest, it still isn’t stable, which is why the paired update with this post has almost no changes! Keep your eyes peeled though for some HORRIFYING changes later this month!
Remember to brush your teeth after eating bloodstained candy! Have a wonderful October!

Taste Of Vanilla is now live!
Thankfully, we found some ice cream in an old freezer locked away in a broom closet!
The themed update you've all (not) been waiting for is finally out on both US and EU for all to play! While there were many more changes we wanted to do, we were unfortunately limited by some developmental hurdles, but hey! It’s out! And edible!
We hope everyone enjoys the new toned-down and user-friendly direction we’re trying to take vanilla weapon changes, with the intention of making everything simple and consumable!
After this update we’re going to start a new bi-weekly update schedule, allowing us to make minor balance changes, add new maps, and fix bugs on a regular basis to keep the server in a comfy state! We'll also be paying a lot more attention in the discord for feedback and suggestions, so be sure to be active and share your thoughts (And bug reports!) there! Overall, we’re very excited with this new direction we're taking the server, but keep in mind we're still building up to our full relaunch; For the time being, a huge portion of our development efforts will be dedicated to working on that, so expect us to keep the changes low key in the meantime!

Incoming Update & New Website Launch!
Hey! How are y’all doin’? Good? That’s great! We’re doing okay, thanks for checking!
cTF2w has had a bit of a dry spell lately and we’d all like to apologize but lets be honest, there is no better way to apologize than with new content!
Over the past few weeks we’ve been working tirelessly to get this launch out despite everything that could go wrong going horribly wrong! But here at cTF2w we’re pretty much used to that! Crafting and Sophie spent many days in a discord call getting things to work (As well as Sophie learning HTML for this website!), our new Junior Creative, Krysys, probably injured their hand working on that WONDERFUL comic, and Hostile & Lore ran around cleaning up everything that was missed! But it was worth it!
For all future updates we plan on following a new system to organize and structure things!
The W.X.Y.Z System!
0.0.0.0
W = Extremely large/fundamental change to the servers.
X = Major content update.
Y = Minor update/Changes.
Z = Minor stat changes or slight tweaks only.
From now on whenever we reference a previous or future update it will most likely be within this format so keep that in mind!
Most, if not all, future announcements will be primarily made here on the website, while other sources like Discord or Steam will link back here, so keep an eye out for blog posts regarding new content, changes, upcoming plans, or Sophie wanting to talk about a neat cooking recipe she found.

Starting today, there will be a new weapon demonstration every day for the next 9 days to celebrate the new channel.
(OLD STEAM) Servers Opening on Sunday!

It was originally going to be July 1st, but due getting custom weapon models working.... it was postponed..... until now!
There will be 51 "new" weapons to start out with. Also, with community suggestion, the weapons can changed for better balancing or new ones can added.
I hope everyone will enjoy what I have been slowly working on for nearly a year!
